Histoire

Comté du Lac-Saint-Jean. Diocèse de Chicoutimi. Desservi par des missionnaires de 1852 à 1857, date de la nomination du premier curé résidant et de l’ouverture des registres de la paroisse. Érection canonique: 8 juin 1868. Érection civile: 12 octobre 1868. Le territoire de cette paroisse comprend une partie des cantons de Labarre, de Mésy et de Caron. La municipalité du village de Notre-Dame-d’Hébertville a été érigée le 1er janvier 1882. Elle est située dans la partie sud-ouest du canton de Labarre, à 3 milles de la station d’Hébertville, sur le parcours du chemin de fer Canadien National. La municipalité du canton d’Hébertville a été érigée le 4 mai 1859, en vertu de l’Acte 22 Vict. chap. 70. Pour description, voir M. et P. de Deschamps, pages 47, 145 et 1179. Le nom d’Hébertville a été donné à la paroisse en souvenir de M. l’abbé Nicolas T. Hébert, ancien curé de Saint-Louis-de-Kamouraska, qui y conduisit les premiers colons. Pop. 1,900.
