Histoire

Dès 1858, des missionnaires viennent desservir la communauté de Drop Off, renommée Rock Forest quelques années plus tard¹. La paroisse Saint-Roch a été officiellement érigée le 12 mars 1896². Les registres s’ouvrent le 4 janvier 1892³.

La première église, construite en 1889, a été en usage jusqu’en 1939⁴. La deuxième église, ouverte en 1939, a été détruite par une tornade en 1949⁵. La troisième église fut construite en 1949-1950⁶.

En 1980, la paroisse Saint-Roch perd une partie de son territoire lors de la création de la paroisse La Résurrection-du-Christ située dans la partie nord de l’ancienne ville de Rock Forest. La paroisse Saint-Roch fut dissoute en 2019 et rattachée à la paroisse Saint-Paul.

La municipalité de Rock Forest a été érigée en 1921 par détachement du township d’Orford. Elle devient la ville de de Rock-Forest en 1983. Son orthographe est modifiée pour Rock Forest en 1986. Elle est annexée à la ville de Sherbrooke en 2002⁷.
